What Fair-Pay Remote Hiring Means on Remot
A precise explanation of pay visibility, experience-based listing floors, project budgets, and what happens after a candidate applies.
Fair pay cannot be established by a slogan. Candidates need enough information to compare a role, and employers need rules they can understand before posting.
What Remot enforces
Every public job shows compensation. Active hourly and monthly jobs must meet a published minimum for the selected experience level:
- Entry: $5/hour
- Mid: $7/hour
- Senior: $10/hour
- Lead: $12/hour
- Executive: $15/hour
Monthly jobs must include expected weekly hours so the platform can calculate an hourly equivalent. If that equivalent falls below the selected level's floor, the job cannot be published.
Project budgets are different. A fixed budget is meaningful only with a defined scope, deliverables, and revision policy, so project listings are labeled separately and excluded from the hourly-floor percentage.
What happens after someone applies
Once a job has an applicant, the employer cannot lower the advertised hourly-equivalent minimum or maximum. This prevents a candidate from spending time and application points on one offer only to see the compensation reduced later.
What the floor does not mean
The floor is not a recommended rate, a market average, or a ceiling. A specialist may quote much more. Employers should set pay from the work's scope, required judgment, schedule, workload, and the candidate's demonstrated experience.
Verify the current rule
Read the live [Pay Floor Policy](/pay-floor-policy) for calculation details and [Trust Metrics](/trust-metrics) for the current public-job snapshot. Those pages are the source of truth if older marketing copy conflicts with this article.
