How to Hire a Filipino Virtual Assistant Without Under-Scoping the Role

Define the outcome, workload, schedule, and decision rights before comparing Filipino virtual assistant candidates.

A useful virtual assistant job post starts with the work, not with a low target rate. The goal is to make the role clear enough that qualified candidates can price it honestly.

1. Name the outcome

Write what should improve after the hire. Examples include keeping an executive inbox current, reducing customer-response time, maintaining accurate product listings, or preparing a weekly operations report.

2. Separate routine work from judgment

List recurring tasks, but identify where the person must make decisions. Calendar entry is different from protecting an executive's priorities. Copying product data is different from finding and correcting catalog errors. Decision-heavy work requires stronger experience and compensation.

3. Publish the real workload

State expected weekly hours, required schedule overlap, meeting cadence, tools, and whether work is ongoing. For monthly roles, Remot uses expected weekly hours to show the hourly equivalent.

4. Compare evidence

Review work samples, relevant tool experience, communication quality, availability, and the candidate's own rate. A complete public profile is quality-gated; email confirmation is a separate signal. Remot does not collect government IDs from talent.

5. Use a paid trial when necessary

A trial should be short, paid, and based on a real but limited deliverable. Tell the candidate how the work will be evaluated and do not request production-scale unpaid samples.

6. Record the agreement

Confirm scope, pay, hours, invoicing or milestone terms, confidentiality, ownership, and termination terms before work begins. Classification and tax obligations depend on the actual relationship and applicable law, so obtain qualified advice when needed.
