A strong job post lets a qualified person decide whether the work, schedule, and pay fit before applying.

Use a literal title

Name the actual role. Avoid urgency, salary, locations, and slogans in the title. Put those details in the appropriate fields.

Lead with the outcome

Explain what should be better after 30, 60, or 90 days. Then list the recurring responsibilities that produce that outcome.

Separate requirements from preferences

Requirements are necessary on day one. Preferences can be learned or traded against other strengths. Long wish lists reduce relevant applications and often hide an under-scoped role.

Publish the workload

State employment type, expected weekly hours, required timezone overlap, meetings, response expectations, and whether the schedule is fixed or flexible.

Show compensation clearly

Use a range you are prepared to honor. For monthly roles, include weekly hours. For projects, define deliverables, revision limits, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and target timing.

Explain selection

Tell candidates how many stages to expect and whether there is a paid trial. Never disguise productive client work as an unpaid assessment.

Define success

Use observable measures such as response time, data accuracy, publication cadence, qualified meetings, resolved tickets, or completed milestones. Avoid promising employment classification or benefits until the relationship has been reviewed properly.
